About Young Farmers
Each year a different club in Buckinghamshire hosts the country show, also known as the Young Farmers Rally. This year the show will be hosted by Aylesbury Senior and Aylesbury Junior Young Farmers Clubs.
There are more than 600 Young Farmers' Clubs located throughout England and Wales, dedicated to supporting young people in agriculture and the countryside. You do not need to be involved in farming to be a Young Farmer... just someone who appreciates the countryside and enjoys rural life.
The membership comprise 25,000 young people aged between 10 and 26 years, the clubs provide a unique opportunity to develop skills, work with their local communities, travel abroad, take part in a varied competitions programme and enjoy a dynamic social life!
The clubs are co-ordinated and supported on a county level, in our case the Buckinghamshire Federation, who in turn are led by The National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs... making it the largest rural youth movement of its kind!
Aylesbury Senior Young Farmers Club
At Aylesbury Seniors Young Farmers, we have over 30 members aged from 17-27. We have weekly meetings that, this year have ranged from stock judging to bee keeping, a talk from a local artisan gin producer, ice skating and a brewery tour. Our members are as varied as our weekly meetings; we have teachers, butchers, farmers and more, so don’t think that you need to own a tractor to get involved!
As well as our weekly meetings, we have various social events throughout the year; the summer schedule is packed with rally parties, the infamous Buckinghamshire County Young Farmers barn dance, curry nights, dinner dances and last but by no means least, the jewel in the crown of all young farmers' social calendar, the annual convention. The annual convention (or AGM) brings 5000 young farmers together in Blackpool for a weekend of fun and shenanigans. You will never be bored at Aylesbury Young Farmers!
This year we are delighted to be hosting the Buckinghamshire county Young farmers Rally at the Waddesdon Country show. We are hoping to retain our wins from last year’s rally and perhaps add some more to the list.
If you are interested in becoming involved in Aylesbury Senior Young farmers, we can usually be found on a Wednesday night at Hardwick village hall, near Whitchurch or follow us on Facebook and send us a message; we always welcome new members to our club. From all of us here at Aylesbury Young Farmers, see you on the 4th of June!

Aylesbury Junior Young Farmers Club
Aylesbury Junior Young Farmers are a group of members aged between 10 and 16 years. We meet during the winter months at Hardwick Village Hall on a Friday evening, where we try and arrange a variety of activities for our group. We sometimes have speakers in for example, Medical Detection Dogs, Taxidermist, Air Ambulance, but we also hold games and craft nights.
In the summer we tend to meet at outside venues. We have had both agricultural and non-agricultural visits including farm walks, a visit to a llama farm and a snail farm as well as touring an ice cream factory. We try to hold two fundraising events which are open to friends and family members such as a Whist Drive and a Beetledrive, to allow us to take the club to something they have asked - swimming or the golf driving range are just two activities we have participated in.
We hold up to 30 members and at present we are at our maximum intake, however, if you wish to either add your child to our waiting list or find out any other information, please don't hesitate to contact Nicola Tuckwell 01296640283/07736731246 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
